Well, 5 months have gone by since my last blog post, and the world is in a much different place than it once was. It’s safe to say that I have experienced the many stages of life that this quarantine has to offer. Because of that, my goals in life have shifted, my priorities were made clearer and the person I am today is a better person than I was in February.
Life is a crazy thing! This period of time has truly shown me that it’s important to be flexible and ready to grow as you go. Depending on the way you look at my “New Year, New Sonder Style” post back in December, you could say I failed at reaching many (if not most) of the goals I set out to achieve this year. However, I am choosing to re-frame the situation and be proud of the motivation and passion I still hold for my future, despite any slight setbacks.
There is ALWAYS room to grow, and it’s important to remind yourself that it is always a good day to be proud of the progress you’ve made. As cliché as it sounds, each new day is a sign of growth. You can always set out to educate yourself on and fill up your bucket with topics and hobbies you’re passionate about. Inspiration encompasses our life. Today for example, I had the opportunity and time to sit down and listen to the first 3 podcast episodes of Middle Ground Podcast by Jo Johnson and Caroline Stelte. These two women are creative souls who are passionate towards manifesting your dreams and living a fulfilling life. As each episode passed, I was gently reminded that I am in control of the path I pave for myself. I must live each day confidently and courageously true to myself in order to achieve true happiness and success.
“Success” is a tricky term, especially when it is coming from the mouth of my enneagram 3 self. But, success doesn’t have to be limited to achievements in the workplace, bank account, friendship circle, etc. Success, in my eyes, is based on your self-acceptance and positive outlook on life. If you can learn to love yourself and be excited for what each new day brings, then anything is possible.
If you have been feeling down on yourself for what your time these past few months have looked like, understand that we are all in the same boat. If you have felt “lazy”, know that it is okay to relax and enjoy time to yourself. You will never have this much free time in your life again, so if you want to catch up on some of your favorite TV shows or get some rest, go for it! However, if you want a change for yourself, then there is no better time than now to start fresh.
As mentioned above, here are my previous goals & a mid-year update on ones I’ve achieved, but also ones that I am choosing to reflect on and re-write to fit “the now”. I definitely had “lazy” moments this year, but looking back on my progress is a refreshing take on how times like these can be more productive than you think.
Post once every week on Sonder Style (I’ve moved to SquareSpace from Wix, so my older posts can be found at https://sonderstyle.wixsite.com/sonderstyle)
This has always been a goal of mine, but I never can seem to make it right…until now.
Try my best to be active 2-3 days a week…baby steps!
I will seek to find inspiration in my daily life that is able to be posted on my social media platforms.
Travel abroad
I am planning to be an Au Pair in a foreign country come January 2021. Fingers crossed!
Find a way to see Harry Styles on tour #priorities
Thanks to corona, this can’t happen just yet, but I am manifesting that I will see him in 2021.
Find joy in the little things
Yes!
Capture the beauty in “ordinary” things
I will continue to strive to do this.
Get an internship with a dream company
I was able to work as a Campus Outreach Manager for Bumble this past semester, and I am now working as a Brand Ambassador for Vestique which I am SO excited about! #SmallVictories
Invest in myself more
I have started to treat myself to new clothing every now and then, eat healthier and work on my mental and physical health.
Incorporate self care into my weekly routine
Just yesterday, I ran my first 5K! I am so excited for this growth, and I will continue to run because it significantly helps my mental health.
Be more intentional with the people I love
I am so thankful for my incredible group of friends. I love them so much. They know who they are!
Listen to fulfilling podcasts
Amen! I have LOVED listening to podcasts. There is nothing better than turning a miscellaneous task, such as washing the dishes or folding your laundry, into an opportunity to learn and educate yourself on different topics: true crime or self-growth.
Prioritize your morning/nighttime routine
I am starting to enjoy mornings and wrap up my evening at a reasonable time. Trust me, the first half of the year wasn’t like this, but I am working on re-framing my mindset and finding small joys in the morning…perhaps a cold brew or yummy avocado toast.
